连续式炭化机配备有：生物质气化炉、烟气净化器、风机、自配气燃烧器、炭化炉等设备（详见附图）。
连续式炭化机采用了干馏炭化方式，充分利用在炭化过程中产生的一氧化碳、甲烷、氢气等可燃气体，通过烟气净化系统分离出木焦油、木酸液得到纯正的可燃气体，再通过自配风燃烧器充分燃烧，给高温炭化管道加热（温度一般控制在600℃左右）。炭化机内部有四层管道从上至下，******、二层为预热烘干管道，第三层为低温炭化管道，第四层为高温炭化管道。
******、二层设有独立的排气管主要排出水蒸气，管道利用炉内余热对物料进行烘干，水蒸气从排气管排出。第三、四层也设有独立的可燃气体回收管道，炭化管道对物料进行高温炭化，分解出一氧化碳、甲烷、氢气等可燃气体，通过回收管道、烟气净化系统、燃烧器燃烧对管道加热，达到往复循环加热炭化的效果。初次炭化点火气源由生物质气化炉供给。
